Decoration:

1 historiated initial (32x32 mm) with border decoration; 1 decorated border around inserted grisaille miniature (f. 16v: x mm); decorated initials with border decoration (ff. 30v, 46v, 54r, 61r, 66v, etc.); penwork initials with pen-flourishes (ff. 20r, 21r, 22v, 25r,27r, etc.)
Inserted: 3 grisaille miniatures (68x42 mm)

Provenance:

Purchased in 1928 by A. Chester Beatty at the sale of W.R. Riddell of Arcis de la Frontera in London; purchased in 1968 at the Beatty sale at Sotheby's, London (cat. December 3, no. 32)

Annotation:

Franciscan calendar: feasts in gold include St. Anthony of Padua (13 June), St. Clara (12 August), St. Francis (4 October) and St. Remigius (1 October)
