South Holland(?); [1438]. Added miniatures: Utrecht, follower of the Moerdrecht Master (illuminator); c. 1440-1450. Added miniature (f. 16v): Delft(?); c. 1440-1450

Material:

Vellum, ff. 274, 117x79 (60x45) mm, 17 lines, littera hybrida, Binding: 16th-century brown leather; blind

Decoration:

Penwork initials with pen-flourishes in South Holland(?) style (ff. 17r, 48r, 65r, 106r, 122r, etc.)
Added: 8 full-page miniatures (92/54x58/33 mm) with border decoration in Utrecht style (`multi-coloured leaves')

Provenance:

Agatha Francisci van Leyden (= sister Aechte Frans Backersdr., Jacobines at Leyden; 16th century). Purchased in 1897 from antiquarian bookseller J. Halle, Munich

Annotation:

Dominican calendar: feasts in red include St. Thomas of Aquino (7 March) and his Translation (28 January), the Translation of St. Peter Martyr (7 May), St. Dominic `patris ordinis nostri' (5 August) and his Translation (23 May). Full-page miniatures missing before f.92 (Short Hours of the Cross), f. 97 (Hours of the Holy Spirit).
