Philip the Good, Duke of Burgundy (inventory of 1467); by descent to Maximilian of Austria (inventory of 1487). Philipof Cleves (d. 1528; signature). N. Witsen of Amsterdam (d. 1717); offered in his sale in 1728 at Amsterdam (cat. 30 March, no. 7), but unsold or retired; purchased in 1761 in the Witsen sale at Amsterdam (cat. 1 Sept., no. 7) by Gerard Meerman (1722-1771) of The Hague; by descent tohis son Johan Meerman (1753-1815); purchased in 1824 at the Meerman sale at The Hague (cat. 8 June-3 July, no. 874) by antiquarian bookseller T.B. Groebe of Amsterdam, who resold it to Willem H.J. van Westreenen van Tiellandt (1783-1848) of The Hague; by legacy to the kingdom of TheNetherlands in 1848
