South Holland; c. 1460-1480. Inserted miniature: Delft; c. 1480-1490. Added miniatures: Northern Netherlands(?); c. 1500-1520

Vellum, ff. 214, 162x116 (90x60) mm, 19 lines, littera textalis, Binding: 18th-century green leather; gilt

Decoration:

Penwork initials with pen-flourishes in South Holland style (related to Utrecht `crown-and-dragon'; ff. 14r, 56r, 81r, 113r, 138r, etc.)
Inserted (fol. 13): 1 miniature (110x57 mm) with border decoration in Delft style (late `kriezel')
Added: 5 miniatures (127/112x90/70 mm) with border decoration

Provenance:

Adriaen Philipsdr. (16th century). Anna van Galen (17th century). purchased in 1807 as part of the collection of Joost Romswinckel (1745-1824) of Leiden by King Louis Napoleon of The Netherlands and placed in the KB

Annotation:

Utrecht calendar: feasts in red include St. Margaret (July 13), St. Jeroen (August 17) and St. Francis (October 4). Litany: St. Francis first among the Confessors, St. Margaret first among the Virgins.
